FC Tulsa President James Cannon might have expressed it best.

“Even in small groups, our players are itching to get back out on the pitch,” Cannon said on Monday as Tulsa became one of the Championship clubs to start small group training sessions under guidelines set out by the league’s leadership.

Another club to get back onto the training field was Phoenix Rising FC, where the club was taking every precaution to allow players and staff to remain appropriate distances apart while taking into account the hot Arizona climate.

“Our admin was awesome, he went out and bought 25 of those one-gallon water cooler jugs that we all had when we were kids,” Rising FC Head Coach told CBS 5’s Nick King. “Our players have joked it’s really like taking them back to their youth sports days. They have to bring their own shoes, do their own laundry, drink their own water, so I think it’s a huge case of humility.”

For teams and players, the feeling of getting back out onto a training field again alongside a few of their teammates was clearly one they had missed.
