SAN DIEGO – San Diego Loyal SC’s Carrie Taylor made history last November when she joined Head Coach Landon Donovan’s staff to become the first female assistant coach in the USL Championship.
Ahead of the club’s home opener at a sold-out Torero Stadium against Las Vegas Lights FC last month, the USL’s Kelsi Steele caught up with Taylor – as well as Donovan and SD Loyal captain Sal Zizzo – for an in-depth profile on her path through the game, from helping establish the women’s soccer program at the University of Michigan in 1994 to the experience she brings from other stops in college and professional soccer.
