Tucson’s Wieland Named USL eCup Player of the Week

Recorded more than 5,000 points in opening series, joined by RGVFC’s Villarreal, Birmingham’s Hodges

TAMPA, Fla. – FC Tucson eSports player Trent Wieland was named the USL eCup: Rocket League Edition Player of the Week for Week 1 of the tournament as he cemented his place as the tournament favorite with a dominant display in the opening round of action.

Wieland recorded 37 goals across two games in his victory against Greenville Triumph SC last Friday afternoon, racking up 5,604 points in the process. A senior at the University of Arizona, where he is the captain of the university’s Rocket League team, Wieland won the Collegiate Rocket League National Championship last fall.

Wieland is joined in the USL eCup Week 1 Power Pack by Rio Grande Valley FC’s Anarbol Villarreal Jr., who scored 30 goals and 4,327 points in his two-game sweep of Pittsburgh Riverhounds SC, and also Birmingham Legion FC’s Kaylor Hodges, who scored 25 goals and logged 3,791 points in his victory against Forward Madison FC.
