There are plenty of good reasons to tune into the USL eCup: Rocket League Edition over the next month, but the most important one by far is that the tournament is being played to help raise funds for local community charities across the Championship and League One.
Representing charities dealing directly with the current COVID-19 pandemic – like the Arizona COVID-19 Community Response Fund (Phoenix Rising FC), the AHN COVID-19 Assistance Fund (Pittsburgh Riverhounds SC), or the Birmingham Strong Fund (Birmingham Legion FC) – to others that undertake extensive year-round work to benefit their communities – like the Central Texas (Austin Bold FC) and St. Louis Area Foodbank (Saint Louis FC), or Feeding San Diego (San Diego Loyal SC) – the causes are numerous and well worth supporting.
There are even those that tie directly or indirectly to teams taking part. Forward Madison FC will be playing on behalf of The Flock Soccer Fund, the charitable foundation of its supporters group which is currently teaming up with the River Food Pantry to establish a COVID-19 Emergency Food Fund to help people in Dane County, Wisconsin.
The chance to give will come not only through online donations, but via direct Donation Portals that will be available through certain club’s Twitch streams during the tournament. See a great goal? Why not chip in a dollar to that club’s cause. Same thing for big saves and collisions, which should certainly be plentiful throughout the high-octane action starting next week.
