COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. – Colorado Springs Switchbacks FC announced on Friday it had acquired goalkeeper Abraham Rodriguez, defenders Abdul Rwatubyaye and Sebastian Anderson, and forward Niki Jackson on loan from the Colorado Rapids, pending league and federation approval.

“We're incredibly excited about the players that are getting loaned to us,” said Switchbacks Head Coach Alan Koch. “They trained with us already. I think their attitude and mentality have been first class. We have thoroughly enjoyed integrating them into the team. We're going to embrace them and push them to help our team have success and help them in their own personal development.”

Rodriguez joined the professional ranks with the Switchbacks last August after impressing as a USL Academy signing previously during the 2019 USL Championship season. The 17-year-old made his debut on March 30, 2019 against Phoenix Rising FC and was named USL Championship Player of the Week after posting an 11-save performance. He went on to make 16 appearances for the Switchbacks, making 55 saves, including two on penalty kicks, and was named to the 2019 USL 20 Under 20. This past week, Rodriguez was signed to a Homegrown Player contract by the Rapids.

Rwatubyaye was acquired in a trade by the Rapids in May of 2019 from Sporting Kansas City before being loaned to the Switchbacks for the remainder of the season. The Rwandan International logged 1,821 minutes in 21 appearances during the 2019 USL Championship season while also scoring three goals as a center back.

Anderson signed a homegrown contract with the Rapids on April 3, 2019, which made him the youngest signing in Rapids history. The 17-year-old subsequently set Rapids records as he made his professional debut on April 27, 2019 before becoming the youngest goalscorer in club history on July 20, 2019 against New York City FC.

Jackson played extensively in the Championship over the 2019 season in addition to making four appearances for the Rapids, recording five goals and two assists in 23 appearances for the Charlotte Independence. The Memphis, Tennessee native previously made four appearances for the Switchbacks in the 2018 season, logging 219 minutes.
