PITTSBURGH (February 19, 2020) – Pittsburgh Riverhounds SC tied the University of Pittsburgh, 1-1, on Wednesday at Highmark Stadium in preseason action.

The Panthers jumped ahead 1-0 in the 14th minute before Lukas Fernandes put in a goal in the 29th minute to draw the Hounds even.

“We’re still in the discovery phase,” head coach Bob Lilley said. “We, as a staff, saw some improvement in areas. We're also seeing a lot of things that we need a lot more work on. We’re better than we were when we started the first week. We’re making good strides, but we need to learn how to win games and get results.”

When the Panthers jumped onto the scoresheet, they did so via a corner kick opportunity. With the ball being served into the penalty box, an attacker leaped and headed the ball into the net to give the squad a 1-0 advantage.

The Black and Gold responded just 15 minutes later, as Kenardo Forbes sent a through-ball to Fernandes, who slotted home a shot in-close to the net.

Riverhounds SC continues its preseason action against the University of Akron at 1 p.m. on Saturday at Highmark Stadium.
