Every player has that next level in them, it’s a coach’s, teammate’s and team’s role to bring that next level out. This all starts at the youth level, without a strong foundation a building couldn’t touch the clouds. The Locomotive foundation will be built upon its youth soccer efforts and the Player Development Program.

The PDP (Player Development Program) kicked things off last year and was wildly successful. At the helm of these efforts were coach Bob Bigney, who is continuing his mission to elevate youth soccer in the Borderland region. With more than 30 years’ experience in coaching soccer, Bigney holds his US Soccer ‘A’ License, the National Youth License and is a certified instructor for US Soccer. Bringing his expertise and knowledge of the game to the table, the PDP program was born.

This program brings the best players from around the region and pools them together to train and learn from the senior Locomotive squad and coaching staff. By bringing in the best youth players, they are forced to compete at a higher level, thus elevating not only their game but the prestige of soccer in the Borderland. Players from the PDP will then be handpicked to participate in the Locomotive Select Team and have the ability to compete in tournaments and matches around the country – putting their talents on center stage and raising their visibility as the best of the best.

The highly successful Player Development Program is set to go again for the winter/spring 2020 season.  Offering supplemental training for eight different boys age groups and 3 groups of girls, registration for the PDP is now open. Training sessions will begin in February. Players participate in the PDP, receiving 5 sessions during Feb – May while continuing to play on their local team. The PDP is designed for elite players in the under 10 – under 17 age groups.
