Winger Keanu Marsh-Brown brings Experience and Pedigree

MEMPHIS, Tennessee – On Friday Sporting Director Tim Howard and Head Coach Tim Mulqueen announced the signing of midfielder Keanu Marsh-Brown pending league and federation approval.

Marsh-Brown graduated through Fulham Academy in 2009 and signed to stay with the club until 2013. During that time, he went on loan to MK Dons in League One.

Since signing, Marsh-Brown has played in 250 professional matches in the U.K., with 49 League One appearances.

“Keanu will bring a wealth of experience with a high-level pedigree and proven goal-scoring record,” Mulqueen said. “He will be instrumental on the field in our attack, as well as in the locker room and in our community.”

Internationally, Marsh-Brown has four caps for England U16 and 11 caps for England U17. On March 23, 2019 Marsh-Brown made his international debut for Guyana where he claimed an assist for the second goal in a 2-1 win against Belize.

“Keanu is dynamic and can create goal scoring chances for himself as well as his teammates.” Mulqueen said.

Through his professional career in the U.K. Marsh-Brown has scored 49 goals and collected 37 assists.

The signing of Marsh-Brown finishes off a week of signings for 901 FC with four other newcomers previously announced earlier this week including Michael Reed, Rafa Mentzingen, Zach Carroll and Mark Segbers.

Defender Carroll brings four years of USL Championship experience with appearances playing for New York Red Bulls II, Orlando City B and Reno 1868 FC. During his time with New York, he won the USL Cup and was named to the 2016 USL All-League Second Team.

Reed has played in the USL Championship for four seasons and spent the last two seasons as captain of Nashville SC. Before his season-ending ankle injury last August, the defender led Nashville to a 12-5-5 record.

Mentzingen, a midfielder, joins the squad from Lansing Ignite in USL League One where he scored six goals and seven assists in 22 games in 2019. Coming from Swope Park, Segbers brings speed to 901 FC along with two years of USL Championship experience.

These signings bring the 901 FC roster to 14 players with nine returners from the 2019 season: Captain Marc Burch, Brandon Allen, Pierre Da Silva, Liam Doyle, Raul Gonzalez, Triston Hodge, Dan Metzger, Duane Muckette and Leston Paul.

Memphis 901 FC hopes to build on a successful inaugural season where they averaged over 6,500 fans per game—the ninth highest attendance in the league, second among expansion teams.
