IRVINE, Calif.  – Orange County SC has signed forward Thomas Enevoldsen to a USL Championship contract, pending official league approval. This is Enevoldsen’s second time with OCSC. Enevoldsen, a fan favorite returns to OCSC after splitting time in the 2019 USL Championship with Indy Eleven and Sacramento Republic FC netting 15 goals and recording six assists from 35 total appearances.

"I couldn’t be more excited to have Thomas back in Orange County,” said OCSC Head Coach, Braeden Cloutier. “He has arguably been one of the best players this league has seen and not only helped us  win the Western Conference regular-season championship in 2018 but also helped our league grow to another level with his performances.”

Enevoldsen, 32, re-joins OCSC after previously playing with Orange County SC in 2018 where he finished the year as the league’s Golden Boot Runner-Up with 20 goals and 10 assists. His performances earned him selection into the 2018 USL Championship All-League First Team and placed him as one of the USL Championship MVP finalists.

“I’m very excited and happy to return to Orange County. It’s great to be back home,” said Thomas Enevoldsen. “I’m really excited for the upcoming season, because I feel we have a team that can compete for a championship, which is my ultimate goal. I can’t wait for the season to start and I’m looking forward to playing at Championship Soccer Stadium again.”

Enevoldsen started his professional career in 2007 at Aalborg BK in the Danish Superliga where he won a league title and featured in the UEFA Cup, notably scoring against English Premier League Side Tottenham Hotspur FC at White Hart Lane. He then had stints with FC Groningen (Eredivisie), KV Mechelen (Belgian Pro League) and NAC Breda (Eredivisie) between 2009-2018. During his time with FC Groningen, Enevoldsen featured in the UEFA Champions League, playing against storied sides such as Manchester United FC, Villarreal CF and Celtic FC. 

A native of Aalborg, Denmark, Enevoldsen has represented his native country in 11 games at the national team level. He scored his first international goal on May 27, 2010, in Denmark’s 2-0 win against Senegal and started for Denmark in the 2010 FIFA World Cup versus Holland. Enevoldsen was also on the national team when OCSC minority owner Keisuke Honda scored one of his four career World Cup goals against Denmark in a 1-3 loss versus Japan in 2010.

Per club policy, terms of player contracts with Orange County SC will not be released.
