We’re down to the final eight, which saves do you think deserve a place in the Semifinals?

The opening round of matchups in the 2019 USL Fans’ Choice Save of the Year contest produced some close finishes, and some not-so-close, to leave eight saves remaining in contention as we enter the Second Round.

Only goal goalkeeper has two shots at the title remaining, with the Charleston Battery’s Joe Kuzminsky advancing 73 percent to 27 percent past Louisville City FC’s Chris Hubbard, while taking 91 percent of the ballot in his other matchup to advance.

Elsewhere, Phoenix Rising FC teammates Carl Woszczynski and Zac Lubin both earned their spots in the Second Round, with Woszczynski’s 53-47 percent win against North Carolina FC’s Alex Tambakis the second-closest matchup of the opening round. The narrowest margin of victory also featured Tambakis, who saw another of his five original entries edged out by Real Monarchs SLC’s David Ochoa, who took 52 percent of the poll in their matchup.

Tambakis, who took the title a season ago, does have one save remaining in the bracket as he goes up against Southern Derby rival Kuzminsky in the Second Round, where the matchups are set with polls open until Tuesday, December 10 at 12 p.m. ET to determine which saves will advance.
