TAMPA, Fla. – The 2019 USL Championship Playoffs saw Real Monarchs SLC crowned as champion on Sunday night after its victory against Louisville City FC, but the four weeks of action that led to the season’s finale saw the league’s goalkeepers take center stage with some outstanding saves throughout the postseason.
Here are five of the best, now it’s up to you to decide which one will claim the USL Championship Fans’ Choice Save of the Playoffs. Voting will conclude on Friday at 12 p.m. ET.
Chris Hubbard (LOU) - #PITvLOU, 11/2/19: Hubbard produced a brilliant one-handed save to deny a fine strike from Pittsburgh Riverhounds SC midfielder Mouhamed Dabo that was pegged for the top-left corner in the Eastern Conference Semifinals.
David Ochoa (SLC) - #PHXvSLC, 11/1/19: Ochoa got down quickly to deny a close-range header by Phoenix Rising FC’s Adam Jahn as he palmed the ball away from goal to make the rebound attempt difficult for the onrushing Joe Farrell in the Western Conference Semifinals.
Jordan Farr (IND) - #NSHvIND, 11/2/19: Farr made a diving stop to his right on a turning shot toward the left corner of the net by Nashville SC All-League selection Daniel Rios that hopped up off the turf in the Eastern Conference Semifinals.
Joe Kuzminsky (CHS) - #NSHvCHS, 10/26/19: Kuzminsky stayed with the play beautifully as Nashville SC’s Daniel Rios turned inside and then out for a right-footed shot that the Battery shot-stopper palmed away during the Eastern Conference Quarterfinals.
Zac Lubin (PHX) - #PHXvAUS, 10/26/19: Lubin stayed big in his goal and produced a reflex stop to deny Austin Bold FC’s Ema Twumasi and keep the game scoreless in the first period of extra time at Casino Arizona Field during the Western Conference Quarterfinals.
