LOUISVILLE, Ky. – Louisville City FC and Real Monarchs SLC are each aiming for their own piece of history in Sunday’s 2019 USL Championship Final at Lynn Stadium (7:30 p.m. ET | ESPN2 | ESPN Deportes).
The two-time defending champion, LouCity can become the first team to win three Championship titles with a victory on home turf. Undefeated all-time in the playoffs on home turf (11-0-1) and perfect at Lynn Stadium over its history (7-0), Head Coach John Hackworth’s side enters as favorites.
The Monarchs, though, have their sights set on becoming both the first Western Conference representative on lifting the trophy since the Championship divided into two conferences in 2015, and becoming the first visiting team to claim victory in the contest’s history. The Championship’s 2017 Regular Season Title-Winner, Real’s talented group of experience and youth has already claimed one big road win this postseason, defeating Phoenix Rising FC at Casino Arizona Field in the Western Conference Semifinals.
The USL’s Kelsi Steele looked at the road to the Championship Final for both clubs as they prepare for the biggest game of the season.
