TAMPA, Fla. – The USL Championship announced on Monday the five nominees for the USL Championship Player of the Month award for October, with top performers from the final month of the 2019 regular season selected for the ballot.

Voting in the USL Player of the Month Award will be conducted by the following three voting bodies:

  • A fan vote on USLChampionship.com will comprise 51 percent of the poll. The fan vote will run through Thursday, October 31 at 12 p.m. ET.
  • The USL Technical Committee’s ballots comprise 25 percent of the poll.
  • The USL National Media Panel’s ballots comprise 24 percent of the poll.

The award winner and complete voting results will be announced on Friday, November 1.

Please note: The USL Championship Player of the Month selections process in no way is tied directly to the voting and selection process of End of the Year awards such as USL Championship Most Valuable Player or position players of the year.

USL Championship Player of the Month – October 2019

Alioune Ndour, Loudoun United FC – Ndour recorded a league-best five goals in four games during October, averaging a goal every 72 minutes, and notched one assist and four key passes as Loudoun won its final four games of the regular season.

Trey Muse, Tacoma Defiance – Muse recorded 29 saves in four appearances for the Defiance, posting a 90.6 save percentage and one shutout while equaling a Championship record with a 13-save performance against New Mexico United.

Faris, Bethlehem Steel FC – Faris proved a bright point down the stretch as Steel FC’s playoff bid came up short as he scored four goals in four games at a rate of a goal every 78.2 minutes.

Kyle Murphy, Loudoun United FC – Murphy provided a superb foil to Ndour in Loudoun’s attack as he recorded four goals and one assist during October, scoring at a rate of a goal every 62.3 minutes in United’s late surge.

Niall McCabe, Louisville City FC – McCabe recorded three assists and registered a league-high 14 chances created in the month of October while also winning 17 of 24 duels and completing 162 of 224 passes.
