USL Championship Discipline Report – Week 33

TAMPA, Fla. – The following is the USL’s discipline report for Week 33 of the 2019 USL Championship season:

Phoenix Rising FC’s Corey Whelan will not be suspended following his red card for violent conduct against Real Monarchs SLC on October 12 following a successful appeal heard by the Independent Review Panel. Whelan will be available for Phoenix’s contest against OKC Energy FC on Friday night.

Memphis 901 FC’s Brandon Allen and Pierre Da Silva have each been suspended for one game following their red cards for violent conduct against the Charlotte Independence on October 12. Allen and Da Silva will be unavailable for Memphis’ contest against the Charleston Battery on Wednesday night.

Real Monarchs SLC’s Konrad Plewa has been suspended for one game following his red card for violent conduct against Phoenix Rising FC on October 12. Plewa will be unavailable for Real’s contest against Austin Bold FC on Wednesday night.

Tulsa Roughnecks FC’s Marlon has been suspended for one game following his red card for two cautionable offenses against New Mexico United on October 12. Marlon will be unavailable for Tulsa’s contest against Reno 1868 FC on Saturday afternoon.

Four coaches – LA Galaxy II Head Coach Junior Gonzalez, Nashville SC Head Coach Gary Smith, Memphis 901 FC assistant coach Ben Pirmann and Phoenix Rising FC assistant coach Cory Robertson – have been suspended one game following their dismissal from the technical area for irresponsible behavior on October 12. Pirmann will be unavailable for Memphis’ contest against the Charleston Battery on Wednesday night, Robertson for Phoenix’s contest against OKC Energy FC on Friday night, Gonzalez for LA’s contest against El Paso Locomotive FC on Saturday night and Smith for Nashville’s contest against ATL UTD 2 on Saturday night.

ATL UTD 2’s George Campbell, Austin Bold FC’s Amobi Okugo, the Charleston Battery’s O’Brian Woodbine, New Mexico United’s Josh Suggs and Tacoma Defiance’s Jesse Daley have each been suspended for one game for caution accumulation after receiving their eighth yellow cards of the season. Woodbine will be unavailable for Charleston’s contest against Memphis 901 FC on Wednesday night, Suggs and Daley will be unavailable for the contest between New Mexico and Tacoma on Wednesday night, Okugo will be unavailable for Austin’s contest against Real Monarchs SLC on Wednesday night and Campbell will be unavailable for Atlanta’s contest against Nashville SC on Saturday night. 

ATL UTD 2’s Wesly Decas and Saint Louis FC’s Guy Abend have each been suspended for one game for caution accumulation after receiving their fifth yellow cards of the season. Decas will be unavailable for Atlanta’s contest against Nashville SC on Saturday night and Abend will be unavailable for Saint Louis’ contest with North Carolina FC on Saturday night.

Bethlehem Steel FC’s Ben Ofeimu, Loudoun United FC’s Elvis Amoh and Orange County SC’s Michael Seaton have each served a one-game suspension for caution accumulation after receiving their fifth yellow cards of the season. Ofeimu served his suspension during Bethlehem’s contest against Ottawa Fury FC on October 12, Seaton during Orange County’s contest against Sacramento Republic FC on October 12 and Amoh during Loudoun’s contest against the Charleston Battery on October 13.

El Paso Locomotive FC’s James Kiffe is no longer on caution accumulation warning, having had one caution removed under the USL’s Good Behavior incentive to place him on six cautions for the season.

The LA Galaxy II’s Jose Hernandez is no longer on caution accumulation warning, having had one caution removed under the USL’s Good Behavior incentive to place him on three cautions for the season.

The following players enter the upcoming matches one caution away from a yellow card accumulation suspension for their fifth yellow card of the season. A fifth caution in a club’s final game of the regular season would result in a fine, however an accumulation caution would not result in a suspension should the player’s club advance to the 2019 USL Championship Playoffs. Here is the breakdown per club:

  • LA Galaxy II (2): Nick DePuy, Kai Koreniuk

  • Las Vegas Lights FC (1): Ferrety Sousa

  • Loudoun United FC (1): Harri Hawkins

  • Memphis 901 FC (1): Josh Morton
