HARTFORD, Conn. – Hartford Athletic will host the second international exhibition of its inaugural season in October when it plays host to Portmore United FC, reigning champions of the Jamaican National Premier League at Dillon Stadium on Saturday, October 26th at 7 p.m. ET.

“We’re thrilled to celebrate Hartford’s vibrant Jamaican and West Indian community by welcoming Portmore United, champions of the Red Stripe Premier League,” said Hartford Athletic COO Donovan Powell. “This match continues our vision to unite the community through the world’s game.”

Portmore United is one of Caribbean soccer’s best-known clubs, having won the Jamaican National Premier League seven times, including back-to-back victories over the past two seasons. The club earlier this year won the Concacaf Caribbean Championship to earn a place in the 2020 Concacaf Champions League.

“Next month’s match with Portmore United FC will be another exciting milestone in revitalizing Dillon Stadium as a community asset,” said Mayor Luke Bronin.  “We’re proud to have an incredibly strong Jamaican and West Indian community, and this is a perfect opportunity to celebrate Hartford’s bond with the islands and watch great soccer. I want to thank Hartford Athletic and everyone involved in making this special event possible.”

This is the second in a series of international friendlies that Hartford Athletic has hosted, bringing clubs from all over the world to Hartford each season. On August 17th, the Puerto Rico National Team came to Hartford for the first exhibition contest in Club history. Tickets for the match are now on sale with a portion of ticket proceeds going to the West Indian Foundation. Tickets will be available at hartfordathletic.com/portmore.
