Legion FC returns home to face Saint Louis FC Friday at 7 pm at BBVA Field

Win the Battle in the Air
The battle in the air is one in which Legion FC usually come out on top. The height that the black and gold have up front with JJ Williams and Brian Wright usually gives them the advantage when it comes to winning the ball in the air to create opportunities going forward.

However, against Saint Louis FC, the battle in the air will not be a walk in the park. St. Louis has multiple players that are over six feet tall, which has resulted in 10 goals off of headers for them. The threat that the visitors' size poses is clear, so the boys will have to make sure that they are the ones who come down as the winners when they go up for a clash in the air.

Control the Tempo
St. Louis are often seen as disruptors, capitalizing on their opponent if they fail to find their footing quickly. To counteract this, Birmingham will have to control the tempo of the game and make the visitors play to their speed.

Doing so early will force Saint Louis FC to adjust their gameplan can frustrate them to the point where they over-commit and leave gaps for Legion FC to exploit in the attack.

Defend Set Pieces
Set piece defending will be important for both sides on September 13, as BHM and STL have both scored eight goals off of set pieces. With Saint Louis FC posing such a threat on set pieces, getting to the ball first and clearing it away from danger will be key to keeping the visitors grounded.

Equally as important, though, is not allowing set piece opportunities in the first place. If the boys can avoid giving up fouls in dangerous positions, then they will take away one of St. Louis’s biggest threats.
