IRVINE, Calif. – Orange County SC announced on Wednesday it had signed Danish goalkeeper Frederik Due, pending league and federation approval. Due arrives in Orange County after a transfer from fellow USL Championship club Hartford Athletic.

“I’m very happy that we’ve been able to secure Frederik,” said Orange County SC Head Coach, Braeden Cloutier. “He has played at the top level in Denmark and comes highly recommended. From what we have seen through scouting, he will fit perfectly with how our team is set up.”

The Danish import joined Hartford after three seasons with Randers of the Danish Superliga. The 27-year old had previously spent five years with HB Køge of the Danish First League and recorded 37 shutouts in eight seasons in his homeland.

“I am so excited to be here, I can't wait to get started,” said Due. “I'm going to do all I can to ensure that the club makes the playoffs.”

“We are pleased to add a very experienced goalkeeper in Frederik to our roster as we are pushing for the playoffs,” added OCSC President of Soccer Operations, Oliver Wyss. “Frederik is a top-notch professional on and off the field and he will add depth to our goalkeeper position, especially with Aaron Cervantes being in contention to make the U.S. U17 World Cup roster.”
