Indy Eleven defeats Saint Louis FC for a third win in four games

The Indy Eleven earned their third win in four games after defeating Saint Louis FC, 2-1, off the back of goals from Tyler Pasher and Dane Kelly. Pasher continued his great run of form by showing his lethal pace in a run down the left-hand side before cutting in and curling home an effort past STLFC goalkeeper Tomás Gómez in the 67th minute. Then, substitute forward Dane Kelly made a near instant impact when he got the better of a long ball over the top and chipped Gómez from just inside the penalty area to extend Indy's lead. A late goal off a free kick from Lewis Hilton came too late for STLFC, as Indy exacted revenge off the season-opening loss in Saint Louis.

Indy Eleven (2) v Saint Louis FC (1)

INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. – The Indy Eleven defeated Saint Louis FC, 2-1, at Lucas Oil Stadium with both goals coming in the second half to win their second straight game and avenge the season-opening loss to STLFC in Saint Louis. Indy was the first to cause a problem when forward Ilija Ilic had a close-range effort saved well by STLFC goalkeeper Tomás Gómez, the only quality opportunity produced by either side in the first half. The hosts would eventually break down the door, though, when in-form midfielder Tyler Pasher shot down the right side and cut inside the penalty area before curling a left-footed effort to the far post and in. Indy’s Tyler Gibson struck the bar just four minutes later and Pasher forced another good save from Gómez as they continued to pile on the pressure, but it was substitute Dane Kelly who would shield a Saint Louis FC defender before lifting an effort over Gómez to score the game’s second and his 72nd all-time in the Championship to re-gain his place at #1 all-time. Pulling one back a little too late, Saint Louis FC got their lone goal through a magnificent free kick from midfielder Lewis Hilton in the second minute of three minutes of stoppage time. Not enough to overcome the deficit, the result leaves STLFC winless in their last four, while Indy collects their third win in four games.
