CARSON, Calif. – The LA Galaxy II announced on Friday it had parted ways with Head Coach Mike Munoz, with former Rio Grande Valley FC Head Coach Junior Gonzalez set to serve as the club’s interim Head Coach.

Munoz, who earned his U.S. Soccer Pro License in 2018, was appointed as Head Coach of the Galaxy II prior to the 2017 USL Championship season. During his tenure at the club, Los Dos went 23-42-20 in the regular season and failed to reach the postseason each of the past two seasons. The side currently sits in 13th place in the Championship’s Western Conference on 23 points, three points out of the 10th and final playoff position.

Gonzalez led the Toros during the 2017 season, arriving at the club as a former assistant coach at Seattle Sounders FC. RGVFC went 9-15-8 in his lone season, finishing 11th in the Western Conference, before Gonzalez elected to join the LA Galaxy as an assistant coach.

The Galaxy II are in action this Saturday night as they host Reno 1868 FC at Dignity Health Sports Park, with kickoff set for 10 p.m. ET.
