RENO, Nev. – Two goals in two minutes sent Reno 1868 FC to a 3-2 victory against Club America’s U20s on Friday night in an international exhibition at Greater Nevada Field. Marky Hernandez and Aidan Apodaca scored the decisive goals for the hosts, who continued their positive recent form in the USL Championship.

Reno took a first-half lead through Sam Gleadle in the 25th minute as the English midfielder added to his standout display in the club’s last outing against Rio Grande Valley FC, but Las Aguilas youngsters took a halftime lead thanks to goals five minutes apart in the 30th and 35th minutes.

The hosts rebounded thanks to second-half substitutes Hernandez and Apodaca, who both entered in the 63rd minute. Hernandez leveled the game in the 68th minute, and a minute later Apodaca put Reno ahead for the second time on the night. 1868 FC then held firm to its lead late as goalkeeper JT Marcinkowski made a late save to preserve the win.

Reno returns to USL Championship action this Wednesday night when it visits OKC Energy FC looking to add to a three-game winning streak in league action that has carried the side to second place in the Wednesday Conference. 1868 FC’s next home outing arrives on July 27 when it plays host to Colorado Springs Switchbacks FC at 7:30 p.m. PT.
