Reflex save early in victory against El Paso took top spot in online poll

TAMPA, Fla. – Fresno FC goalkeeper C.J. Cochran has claimed the USL Championship Fans’ Choice Save of the Week for Week 17 of the 2019 season as his standout first-half save in a shutout performance against El Paso Locomotive FC last Saturday night earned him top spot in the weekly poll.

Cochran made a pair of key saves early in the first half of the clash with Locomotive FC at Chukchanski Park. After denying Omar Salgado in a one-on-one situation, Cochran made a tremendous one-handed save on a volleyed finish by Daniel Navarro off the ensuing corner to tip the effort over the crossbar to keep his side on level terms.

Cochran’s save earned 53 percent of the poll conducted online at USLChampionship.com that concluded on Friday morning. Memphis 901 FC’s Scott Levene finished second on 21 percent for his low save to deny the Charlotte Independence’s Alex Martinez, while the Independence’s Brandon Miller finished third on 11 percent for his late save on Memphis’ Elliot Collier that preserved the Independence’s victory.
