SACRAMENTO, Calif. – The Highway 99 Derby had everything from red cards to late goals and plenty of drama in between that saw Fresno FC edge hosts Sacramento Republic FC, 1-0, at Papa Murphy’s Park. 13 minutes in, Fresno had the first dangerous opportunity off the night when a free kick resulted in a deflected shot falling into the path of Foxes forward Jackson, who saw his sliced effort rifle off the post and back into play before being eventually cleared. In the 33rd minute, Sacramento looked to have nearly taken the lead when midfielder Hayden Partain produced a long-distance effort that Fresno goalkeeper C.J. Cochran spilled and nearly saw fall over the endline only to recover just in time to prevent the ball from rolling over the endline. In the 75th minute, double red cards were issued to Republic FC defender Dekel Keinan and Fresno forward Jamie Chavez when the pair engaged in violent conduct during the substitute of Foxes’ Qudus Luwal for Diego Casillas. Minutes after both sides went to 10 men, the substitute Casillas stole the show when midfielder Elijah Martin picked out the former USL League Two forward at the back post where he beat Republic FC goalkeeper Josh Cohen to score his first professional goal. Despite late pressure from the hosts, Fresno held on to earn all three points with a clean sheet and managed to reverse their fortunes in this fixture’s recent history.

reno 1868 fc (4) v rio grande valley fc (0)

RENO, NV – Reno 1868 FC fashioned a lopsided 4-0 win over Rio Grande Valley FC on Saturday night to maintain their position near the top of the Western Conference. In front of the Greater Nevada Field crowd, Reno’s Sam Gleadle got things going after 20 minutes with a bullet of an effort after Duke Lacroix had played him in. Just before the half, Gleadle produced his second after Gabriel Fuentes fed him through the middle for the midfielder to calmly slot home from a few yards out. Reno’s third and fourth goals came inside six minutes after the halftime break and within three minutes of each other. Gleadle turned scorer to provider in the 48th minute when he picked out forward Corey Hertzog from two yards out for an easy tap-in. Then, Reno captain Zach Carroll finished midfielder Seth Casiple’s corner kick in emphatic fashion after 51 minutes to cap off a high-scoring evening.

san antonio fc (3) v austin bold fc (0)

SAN ANTONIO, Tx. – In their third meeting of 2019 so far, San Antonio FC defeated Austin Bold FC for the first time thanks to an even spread of goals that began with a Bold FC own goal and ended with tallies for Billy Forbes and Cristian Parano. Early pressure by the hosts saw a flurry of chances created minutes in, and SAFC midfielder Bradford Jamieson forced the game’s first goal when he cut down and in from the right side and pushed a low ball across goal that Bold FC defender Amobi Okugo knocked in from a few yards out. San Antonio would create even more chances in the first half but would have to wait until the 50th minute to double their advantage when Jamieson played in midfielder Billy Forbes on the right wing where he faked a defender and used his right foot to curl an effort past Austin goalkeeper Diego Restrepo. Putting an exclamation point on the match after 70 minutes, SAFC found the proverbial nail in the coffin when Forbes found forward Cristian Parano in the middle of the box and the Argentine stopped on a dime before poking a right-footed shot to the far post and in for the game’s final goal.

Billy Forbes, San Antonio FC – Forbes was all over the park as he tallied a goal and an assist, and created two chances while winning 13 of 19 duels in 90 minutes of action.
