Swope Park shot-stopper’s close-range reaction save earned top spot in weekly poll

TAMPA, Fla. – Swope Park Rangers goalkeeper Eric Dick has earned the USL Championship Fans’ Choice Save of the Week for Week 15 of the 2019 season as his reflex stop against North Carolina FC last Saturday at Sahlen’s Stadium at WakeMed Soccer Park earned him top spot in the weekly poll.

With the Rangers trailing 2-0 early in the second half, Dick kept Swope Park in the game as he stuck out his left arm just in time to direct Robbie Kristo’s stinging shot from close range onto the crossbar before one of his defenders cleared the ball to safety.

Dick’s save earned 36 percent of the poll conducted online at USLChampionship.com that concluded on Friday morning. Nashville SC’s Matt Pickens finished in a tie for second place on 25 percent for his penalty-kick save on Hartford Athletic’s Jose Angulo in his side’s 3-2 victory at Rentschler Field, while Hartford goalkeeper Frederik Due also finished on 25 percent for his full-stretch stop to keep out a header from NSC’s Ropapa Mensah.
