RENO, NV – Rising FC continued its excellent run of form with an impressive 3-0 win over fellow Western Conference Reno 1868 FC frontrunners as part of Tuesday Night Soccer on ESPN3. The visitors took the lead after just seven minutes when they forced a turnover in the Reno half which resulted in forward Solomon Asante streaking down the left side and picking out forward Adam Jahn at the top of the box, who dribbled past a pair of defenders before firing low past Reno goalkeeper Matt Bersano. Holding a narrow lead through the halftime break, Phoenix doubled its advantage ten minutes into the second half when midfielder Jose Aguinaga chested down a pass for the red-hot Asante, who lashed home a well-struck effort on the first time asking for his eighth goal of the season. To put an exclamation point on the match, the visitors scored their third and final goal in the fifth of seven minutes of stoppage time when substitute Andrew Wheeler-Ominu headed a lifted pass to the center of the box from the flank for forward Joey Calistri, who did well to find the net on a one-time effort from close range to seal the points. The loss was Reno’s first at Greater Nevada Field this year while Phoenix collected its second straight win on the road and extended its lead at the top of the Western Conference standings.
