OTTAWA – Ottawa Fury FC learned on Wednesday night it will face Halifax Wanderers FC of the Canadian Premier League in the Third Qualifying Round of the 2019 Canadian Championship. The two-legged contest will open on Wednesday, July 10 at Wanderers Grounds in Halifax, Ontario before Fury FC hosts the second leg at TD Place on Wednesday, July 24.

The Wanderers advanced to the Third Qualifying Round with a 4-1 aggregate victory against fellow CPL club Valour FC in the two-legged series that concluded on Wednesday night. Halifax is coached by former Trinidad & Tobago Head Coach Stephen Hart, and currently sits in fourth place in the league’s inaugural spring season with a 2-3-1 record in league play.

Fury FC, meanwhile, is currently in seventh place in the USL Championship’s Eastern Conference with a 6-2-4 record that has the club on course for a place in the USL Cup Playoffs for the first time in its history.

Fury FC has reached the Semifinals of the Canadian Championship in each of the past three seasons. The winner of the tie between Fury FC and the Wanderers would face defending Canadian Championship-holder Toronto FC in this year’s Semifinals.
