CHICAGO – The River Cities Cup will live on in 2019.

Two-time USL Cup champion Louisville City FC was drawn against former Championship rival FC Cincinnati on Thursday morning for what is set to be the marquee matchup in the Fourth Round of the 2019 Lamar Hunt U.S. Open Cup. The teams will meet on Wednesday, June 12 at 7:30 p.m. ET at Nippert Stadium for a place in the Round of 16.

The two clubs battled in the Championship over the past three seasons prior to FCC’s move to Major League Soccer this season, with LouCity claiming the regular-season series and the River Cities Cup in each of the past two seasons. FC Cincinnati will host the contest, set for either June 11 or 12.

Both Louisville and Cincinnati have made notable runs in the Open Cup in recent years, with FCC reaching the Semifinals as a member of the Championship in 2017 before Louisville reached the Quarterfinals a season ago.

A trio of Championship clubs also received home draws against opposition from Major League Soccer, including Memphis 901 FC, which will play host to an MLS club for the first time in its history when it takes on Orlando City SC in the Fourth Round. The first-year club advanced to the tournament’s Fourth Round with two comprehensive victories in the previous rounds, including a 4-0 victory against fellow Championship expansion side Hartford Athletic on Wednesday night.

The Charleston Battery were also drawn at home to take on reigning MLS Cup champion Atlanta United FC, while Saint Louis FC will play host to the Chicago Fire. Both matchups are rematches from previous editions of the Open Cup, with the Battery having visited Atlanta in each of the past two seasons and STFLC having hosted the Fire in the 2017 tournament.

Current USL Championship Western Conference leader New Mexico United will return to Colorado for a second consecutive round after being drawn against the Colorado Rapids. NMU rallied for a 2-1 victory against fellow Championship side Colorado Springs Switchbacks FC to continue its inaugural run in the tournament on Wednesday night.

Sacramento Republic FC will return to Avaya Stadium for the first time since 2015 to take on the San Jose Earthquakes in a regional battle in northern California. Republic FC took the Quakes to a penalty shootout when they last met in the Open Cup and will have hopes of making a third consecutive trip to the Round of 16 in mind as it makes the two-hour drive south to San Jose.

Both Austin Bold FC and OKC Energy FC will head on the road as well with Bold FC set to make the 165-mile trip south to face the Houston Dynamo and another matchup with FC Dallas is awaiting Energy FC. North Carolina FC will visit New York City FC, while Pittsburgh Riverhounds SC was drawn away against Columbus Crew SC.
