AUSTIN, Texas – Andre Lima struck twice while Sonny Guadarramma had a goal and two assists to lead Austin Bold FC to a 4-2 victory against San Antonio FC and into the Fourth Round of the 2019 Lamar Hunt U.S. Open Cup at Bold Stadium on Wednesday night.
Austin took the lead in the 10th minute on its first good chance of the game as Kleber cleverly controlled a chipped through-ball by Sonny Guadaramma with a header and then volleyed home a finish from eight yards into the right side of the net. Kleber went close again seven minutes later when Kleber had a first-time finish deflected just over the top-right corner, and moments later Andre Lima hit the crossbar after a cushioned pass by Sean McFarlane had found the Brazilian at the top of the six-yard area for a volleyed effort.
Off a beautiful pass!

San Antonio had a good chance to level in the 27th minute when Bradford Jamieson IV was slipped in behind the Austin defense by Walter Restrepo, but Bold FC goalkeeper Diego Restrepo did just enough to deflect Jamieson’s finish just wide of the left post. Ethan Bryant was also denied for the visitors as he fired a low, first-time shot toward then left corner that Restrepo turned just wide of the post.
Bold FC doubled its lead in the 39th minute, however, after it was awarded a penalty kick following a handball by SAFC’s Rafael Castillo in the area. Kleber’s initial shot to the left corner was saved by San Antonio goalkeeper Jonathan Viscosi, but Guadarrama was the first to react to the rebound and swept it home into the open half of the net.
Three minutes later Austin made it three as Guadarrama played provider with a free kick from the right that Lima headed home from close range, but San Antonio responded immediately as a low cut-back from the left picked out Jamieson, whose initial shot caromed to the right side of the penalty area where Restrepo was on hand to shoot home just inside the post.
Then he becomes the provider for a great goal from Lima.

Bold FC regained its three-goal advantage just past the hour-mark, however as Lima scored his second of the night. A low cross into the penalty area by Isaac Promise found Lima in space and he had time to pick his spot in the bottom-left corner for Austin’s fourth of the night.
San Antonio hit the post with four minutes to go as Ever Guzman’s turning shot just missed the left corner, and then Austin had a second penalty kick saved on the night as Viscosi turned away Clayton Adams’ effort before his defense this time swept in to clear the rebound. SAFC pulled a consolation goal back in stoppage time thanks to Jack Barmby, whose chipped finish from the left side landed softly into the right side of the net, but Austin had already done enough to book its place in the Fourth Round as it defeated its rival for the second time this season.
