Fresh off notching a hat trick this weekend in Elite Clubs National League (ECNL) competition, Tessa Dellarose will now have the opportunity to compete on the national stage.

The Brownsville Area High School product has been named to a U.S. Soccer Youth National Team Identification Center, which will take place today, May 22, in Arlington, Virginia. This is a one-day showcase, which is designed to replicate Youth National Team camps for athletes to train under the direction of U.S. Soccer Talent Identification Managers.

“It’s been a dream of mine to be a part of something like this and be looked at to go to a national camp,” Dellarose said. “I’m very ecstatic. It really is a true honor.”

A member of the 2003 RDA Girls team, Dellarose has committed to play collegiately at the University of North Carolina. Along her journey to this point, the RDA staff has been there to help her grow each step of the way.

“A lot of coaches here have helped me,” Dellarose said. “Mike Whiteman has been a big part of this, as I’ve been training with him for going on three years. He has really helped me with strength and speed.”

In addition to training with her RDA competitive team, Dellarose participates in additional speed and strength training, which is led by Whiteman. There she runs through drills designed to help her quickness and explosion on the pitch.

Dellarose also said she credits the entire RDA staff, including her current coach Jason Kutney.

“Tessa is a very young, talented player who came to us with a clear set of goals,” Kutney said. “It has been a pleasure helping her along in her journey.”

Scheduled to graduate high school in 2022, Dellarose will use this national stage opportunity to further help her growth as an athlete.

“I’m looking forward to the opportunity to play among and against the top-level players at my age,” Dellarose said. “It really helps your development and what you need to work on. It exposes your weaknesses and exposes your strengths as well.”
