Pittsburgh Riverhounds SC (2-1-5) will battle the Charlotte Independence (1-6-4) at 7 p.m. on Saturday at Highmark Stadium. The match will be streamed live on ESPN+.

Back to the ‘Burgh

Defender Hugh Roberts, a former Hound who now plays for Charlotte, is coming back to Pittsburgh for a meeting with his former team. It will be his first time suiting up for a Hounds game but wearing the opposing team’s jersey since he left this offseason.

Playoff Hunt

Although Pittsburgh is one point away from a playoff spot, Charlotte is five points away from a playoff spot. Winning the game on Saturday could potentially boost the Hounds up enough in the standings to be in the playoff picture. So far this season, Pittsburgh has won one-third of its home games (1-0-2).  On Saturday, the Hounds will look to add another win at home.

Streaking

Charlotte has never lost a game played against Pittsburgh whereas the Hounds are currently on a seven-game unbeaten streak. Pittsburgh will aim to continue its unbeaten streak and put an end to its struggles against the Independence.

By the Numbers: 3

Kevin Kerr leads the team with three goals this season.

Key to Victory: Rack Up Shots

The key to success against Charlotte is to keep the energy up throughout the whole game. By taking more shots, the Hounds have a better chance of scoring more goals than Charlotte – a team that allows almost two goals per game. So far this season, Pittsburgh is averaging 10.13 shots per game. If Pittsburgh is able to record more shots in this upcoming match, then it could come away with a good result.
