CHICAGO – U.S. Soccer announced on Tuesday morning the potential pairings and hosting scenarios for the Third Round of the 2019 Lamar Hunt U.S. Open Cup, with regional rivalries between USL Championship clubs and two interconference matchups among the eye-catching games produced by the draw.

Every game of the Third Round will take place on Wednesday, May 29, to produce the 11 teams that will square off with Major League Soccer opposition next month in the Fourth Round. The contest will be aired live on ESPN+.

Among the notable matchups including Championship clubs are potential first meetings between OKC Energy FC and the Tampa Bay Rowdies, and Saint Louis FC and El Paso Locomotive FC, which would pit sides from the opposite conferences in the league against one another in the Midwest. Energy FC would host the Rowdies on the campus of the University of Oklahoma should both sides advance past their Second-Round opponents, while Locomotive FC would head to face Saint Louis should those two sides move on.

The winner of the Second Round-contest between Sacramento Republic FC and Reno 1868 FC could face a much more familiar foe with Fresno FC the potential matchup for both sides should the Foxes advance into the Third Round. North Carolina FC and the Charlotte Independence could also square off once again should they advance, while Austin Bold FC would play host to San Antonio FC in a potential Third-Round matchup.

Other big games that could be on the docket include current Eastern Conference contenders Nashville SC playing host to the Charleston Battery and a third meeting of the season between Louisville City FC and Birmingham Legion FC.
