TAMPA, Fla. – New Mexico United forward Kevaughn Frater has claimed the USL Championship Fans’ Choice Goal of the Month for April of the 2019 season as his volleyed finish in Week 8 against the Portland Timbers 2 at Isotopes Park took top spot in the online poll conducted over the past weekend.
Following in the footsteps of teammate Santi Moar, who claimed the honor for March, Frater produced a moment of quality in the dying moments of New Mexico’s thrilling 3-3 draw with Portland, firing an unstoppable left-footed volley from the center of the penalty area into the roof of the net to tie the contest and complete his hat trick.
Frater’s goal earned 35 percent of the poll conducted online at USLChampionship.com that concluded on Monday. Zeiko Lewis’ curling finish for the Charleston Battery against the Charlotte Independence finished in second place with 26 percent of the vote, while Audi Jepson’s dipping effort for Saint Louis FC against the Swope Park Rangers took third on 11 percent.
