TAMPA, Fla. – The USL Championship announced on Thursday the five nominees for the USL Championship Player of the Month award for April, with top performers from the past month of the 2019 season selected for the ballot.

Voting in the USL Player of the Month Award will be conducted by the following three voting bodies:

  • A fan vote on USLChampionship.com will comprise 51 percent of the poll. The fan vote will run through Monday, May 6 at 12 p.m. ET.
  • The USL Technical Committee’s ballots comprise 25 percent of the poll.
  • The USL National Media Panel’s ballots comprise 24 percent of the poll.

The award winner and complete voting results will be announced on Thursday, May 9.

Please note: The USL Championship Player of the Month selections process in no way is tied directly to the voting and selection process of End of the Year awards such as USL Championship Most Valuable Player or position players of the year.

2019 USL Championship Player of the Month Nominees – April

Kevaughn Frater, New Mexico United – Frater notched four goals at a scoring rate of a goal every 63.75 minutes to move into a tie for the league-lead at the end of April, while also notching one assist.

Dane Kelly, Indy Eleven – Kelly recorded four goals and one assist and averaged a goal every 66.75 minutes in his four appearances for the Eleven.

Marios Lomis, North Carolina FC – Lomis had four goals at a rate of a tally every 63.25 minutes while also recording three key passes for NCFC.

Leo Fernandes, Tampa Bay Rowdies – Fernandes had one goal and four assists and notched 12 key passes in four appearances for the Rowdies to help the side maintain its undefeated start to the season.

Zac Lubin, Phoenix Rising FC – Lubin posted shutouts in four of his five appearances as he recorded a 92.9 save percentage on 13 saves over the course of the month.
