Midfielder joins Nielsen’s squad on season-long loan from Minnesota United FC


New Hartford Athletic loanee Collin Martin has made 14 previous appearances on loan in the Championship, recording one goal and four assists for the Richmond Kickers between 2013-15.

HARTFORD, Conn. – Hartford Athletic announced on Tuesday it had acquired midfielder Collin Martin on a season-long loan from Major League Soccer’s Minnesota United FC.

A young, creative midfielder, Martin made five starts and 12 appearances for the Loons during the 2018 MLS campaign. He has represented the United States at U14, U15 and U17 levels and was the only high-school junior to train with the U20 squad in January 2012.

Martin first joined MLS as a homegrown signing for D.C. United in July 2013. He spent time on loan in the Championship with the Richmond Kickers between 2013-15 where he made 14 appearances and recorded one goal and four assists for the side.

The 24-year-old joined Minnesota in January 2017 when he was traded in exchange for a fourth-round pick in the 2018 MLS SuperDraft. The native of Chevy Chase, Md. has made 38 appearances all-time in Major League Soccer

In addition to the acquisition of Martin, Hartford announced that goalkeeper Jon Kempin and midfielder Luis Argudo have returned to Columbus Crew SC after their recent loan spells.
