AUSTIN, Texas – The first meeting between Austin and El Paso finished scoreless as the sides produced a tightly played Copa Tejas meeting at Bold Stadium. Locomotive FC’s best chance in the first half fell to Omar Salgado as his finish from the left side of the penalty area flew high in the 28th minute, but neither side seriously threatened otherwise before the halftime break. El Paso went close again just past the hour-mark when Sebastian Contreras curled a free kick just past the top-left corner of the net from 19 yards, while the visitors had Calvin Rezende force a punched save by Bold FC goalkeeper Diego Restrepo in the 71st minute. Austin chances of its own in the second half, and Andre Lima fizzed a shot just past the top-right corner with 14 minutes to go on a long-range attempt, but neither side found a breakthrough late as the two sides combined for only three shots on goal overall.
