Kelly leads Indy past Swope Park for third consecutive victory

Dane Kelly got off the mark for 2019 as Indy Eleven kept the Swope Park Rangers winless on the season.

SWOPE PARK RANGERS (1), INDY ELEVEN (3)

KANSAS CITY, Kan. – Indy claimed its third consecutive victory as Dane Kelly had two goals and one assist against the Rangers on Monday night at Children’s Mercy Park. Indy struck twice in the opening six minutes as Kelly first seized on a short back-pass and finished for his first goal for the club, and then set up Thomas Enevoldsen with a softly cushioned pass that allowed the Dane to sweep home first time. The Rangers pulled a goal back in the 26th minute when Wilson Harris fired home a first-time finish off Alexsander Andrade’s through-ball. Swope Park continued to carry play into the second half, but Kelly scored his second goal of the night on a counterattack in the 53rd minute to restore Indy’s two-goal lead. The Rangers twice almost added a fourth in the final half-hour as SPR goalkeeper Eric Dick made good saves to deny Alex Crognale and Kelly, but the hosts were unable to close the gap down the stretch as the Eleven’s defense saw out the win.
