SAINT LOUIS, Mo. – Birmingham Legion FC picked up another impressive win on Saturday when they beat Saint Louis FC, 3-2, on the road at World Wide Technology Park. Here are three takeaways from the contest:

1. FINDING THE SCORING BOOTS: After being held scoreless through their opening two contests, Birmingham Legion FC have now put up three goals in successive contests with three against two of the toughest defensive teams in the east in Louisville and Saint Louis. Legion FC took their time against Louisville before defeating the hosts, 3-2, at Slugger Field, before putting on a similar show in Saint Louis on the same scoreline. Birmingham defender Mathieu Laurent’s powerful header was enough to go in front initially, but Saint Louis FC equalized just after the hour mark to seemingly turn the page. However, substitute forward J.J. Williams scored a brace in six minutes to put eventually an exclamation mark on an impressive performance.
2. PULIS’ MEN DON’T QUIT: Though they lost for the first time this season on Saturday, Saint Louis FC head coach Anthony Pulis can be impressed with his team’s resiliency in nearly pulling off a comeback. After having to come back from a one-goal deficit one, Saint Louis FC were staring at a two-goal deficit when goalscorer Joaquin Rivas won a penalty in the 88th minute. Captain Sam Fink converted the spot kick and temporarily breathed life into the Eastern Conference powerhouse, but it would not be enough to claw back and remain unbeaten on the year.
3. LEGION FC ON THE ROAD: In conjunction with putting up back-to-back performances with three goals on the board, Legion FC can still boast an unbeaten road streak of two straight wins as well. The win in Louisville in the last week of March was rescheduled from the night before due to inclement weather, but turning around after a suspended match against New York Red Bulls II to defeat Saint Louis FC on the road is an impressive feat for head coach Tom Soehn’s men. After two straight home games, Legion FC’s next road opponent is New York Red Bulls II… can their road form continue into May?
