TAMPA, Fla. – Phoenix Rising FC goalkeeper Carl Woszczynski has earned the USL Championship Fans’ Choice Save of the Month award for March of the 2019 season as his full-stretch save against Colorado Springs Switchbacks FC in Week 4 at Casino Arizona Field took top honors in the online poll that ran over the past weekend.
Woszczynski had a memorable opening month of the 2019 season as he became the Championship’s all-time leader in regular-season saves in the contest against the Switchbacks. Among the stops in his seven-save performance that night was a tremendous diving save that denied a long-range effort by Matt Hundley that was pegged for the left corner of the net and kept the sides all square.
Woszczynski’s save earned 60 percent of the poll conducted online at USLChampionship.com that concluded on Monday. New Mexico United’s Cody Mizell finished second with 27 percent for his save on Fresno FC’s Jemal Johnson that earned his side a 1-1 draw in its inaugural contest, while Real Monarchs SLC’s David Ochoa took third for his fingertip denial of El Paso Locomotive FC’s Josh Castellanos.
