San Antonio FC fell to the Colorado Springs Switchbacks on the road on Saturday in the club’s third match of the 2019 USL Championship season. A long goal in the 86th minute for the Switchbacks earned the Colorado side the three points.

Between the Pipes

  • San Antonio FC goalkeeper Matt Cardone recorded five saves on the night, marking his highest tally of the young 2019 season. Cardone last recorded at least five saves when he bagged six against rivals RGV FC on the final day of the 2018 season.

Season Debut

  • SAFC defender Moises Hernandez made his season debut for the club after joining on loan from MLS side FC Dallas this week. Hernandez started, played 90 minutes and recorded five tackles, three clearances and one interception while also winning 73 percent of his duels.

Tough Place to Play

  • With the loss, SAFC has now compiled a record of 2-3-2 all-time against the Switchbacks. The club has yet to win in the tough conditions and high altitude of Weidner Field, going 0-3-1 in Colorado Springs since the start of the 2016 season.
