Fingertip stop against Locomotive FC preserved shutout for U.S. U-20 international

TAMPA, Fla. – Real Monarchs SLC goalkeeper David Ochoa has claimed the USL Championship Fans’ Choice Save of the Week for Week 2 of the 2019 season for his standout fingertip save to deny El Paso Locomotive FC in a 0-0 draw at Zions Bank Stadium last Saturday afternoon.

The United States U-20 international recorded a nine-save shutout to earn his side a point against visiting Locomotive FC as the Monarchs played almost an hour down a man. Ochoa’s best stop was brilliant denial of El Paso’s Josh Castellanos with less than 10 minutes to go that helped preserve a second consecutive draw for the hosts.

Ochoa’s save earned 35 percent of the poll conducted online at USLSoccer.com that concluded on Friday morning. Louisville City FC’s Ben Lundt finished second on 28 percent for a tremendous diving save on a long-range effort by ATL UTD 2’s Andrew Carleton, while Nashville SC’s Matt Pickens and Bethlehem Steel FC’s Carlos Miguel Coronel finished tied for third on 16 percent for their standout saves last Saturday night.
