Haiti to play Cuba on March 25

BIRMINGHAM, AL (March 21, 2019) – Birmingham Legion FC midfielder Zach Herivaux has received an international call up to represent Haiti in a match versus Cuba on Sunday, March 24. The match is a part of CONCACAF Nations League Qualifying and will be played at the Stade Sylvio Cator in Port-au-Prince, Haiti.

“It’s exciting to have one of our players called in to national team duty,” said Legion FC President and GM Jay Heaps. “Zach continues to work hard and that’s always reinforced when you get called in to represent your country.”

Herivaux joined Legion FC on March 14 on an open-ended loan from Major League Soccer side New England Revolution. He quickly found his place in the team, as he was a starter on March 16 against Ottawa Fury FC. In 90 minutes of action, Herivaux amassed a passing accuracy of 89.1 percent, good for second on the team, on 46 total passes, along with one shot on target, one chance created, and one tackle. Legion FC is on a bye week, so he will not miss a USL Championship game.

Herivaux made his international debut for Haiti as a 21-year-old on October 10, 2017 in a friendly against Japan, the country in which he was born. He registered an assist in a 3-3 draw and played all 90 minutes. He currently has made five appearances for his country and will have the chance to play in this summer’s CONCACAF Gold Cup, as Haiti will qualify with at least a draw Sunday versus Cuba. Haiti currently sit in second place in Nations League Qualifying.

Legion FC return to the field on March 30, on the road, against two-time defending USL Cup Champions Louisville City FC. The next home match at BBVA Compass Field is Saturday, April 6 versus New York Red Bulls II at 6:00 PM CT, and tickets are available here. Call (205) 600-4635 or email acochran@bhmlegion.com for more information.
