BIRMINGHAM, Ala. – Birmingham Legion FC announced it had added midfielder Zachary Herivaux and forward Brian Wright on loan from New England Revolution. Both players come with an open-ended loan, meaning that they can be potentially recalled by New England at any time during the 2019 USL Championship season.

“[Head Coach] Tommy [Soehn] and I have worked closely with Brian and Zach and we’re excited to bring them in and have them join the group for Saturday and moving forward,” said Legion FC President and General Manager Jay Heaps.

Herivaux is in his fifth professional season having become the Revolution’s third Homegrown signing in 2015. Herivaux has made 10 MLS appearances, and eight additional appearances along with two goals in the Lamar Hunt U.S Open Cup. The Boston native has also earned four international caps with the Haiti National Team, and two seasons ago spent time on loan with the Championship’s San Antonio FC.

“Jay brought me in, and I trained with the Revs academy since I was 16,” said Herivaux. “He gave me my first contract [with the first team]. I’m also very comfortable with [Assistant Coach] Khano Smith because I’ve known him since I was a kid. He’s very good friends with my dad and I’ve known him a long time so that makes coming down here easy.”

Wright is in his third professional season after being selected by New England with the 20th overall pick in the 2017 MLS SuperDraft. The forward has tallied 12 appearances in the MLS and scoring one goal. The Ajax, Ontario native contributed one goal in four games for the Revs in the U.S Open Cup. In 2017, he made three appearances with two starts during his time on loan with the USL Championship’s Tulsa Roughnecks FC.

Prior to joining New England, the forward played at the collegiate level for the University of Vermont, where he appeared in 80 games, scored 39 goals, and made 25 assists. His efforts have led him to be named the America East Conference Rookie of the Year, a three-time America East first team select, a second team- All American, and a Hermann Trophy finalist.

“Because we already know Jay, Tommy, Femi and those guys, it’s definitely an easier transition,” said Wright. “I’ve known Jay ever since he drafted me straight out of college. It’s more reassuring coming down here knowing how they [Jay and Coach Soehn] run things.”

ROUGHNECKS LOAN IN ORLANDO ‘KEEPER: The Tulsa Roughnecks announced on Friday the addition of Orlando City SC goalkeeper Mason Staiduhar will join the Championship side on a season-long loan.

The 21-year-old signed a homegrown contract with Orlando City in 2015, becoming the fourth Development Academy player to sign a first-team deal with the MLS club. The Massachusetts native spent the last two seasons with Orlando City. According to TopDrawerSoccer.com, Stajduhar ranked fourth overall in the United States at his position as a goalkeeper as an academy prospect.

Having most recently represented the U.S U-18 and U-20 Men’s National Team, Stajduhar has featured on the United States Youth National team on a consistent basis. This season marks his comeback to competitive action, with Stajduhar having completed treatment for Localized Ewing Sarcoma, a form of bone cancer, last June.

“We are glad to have Mason as part of our team. Right away you can tell that he will be a great addition from the professional and team culture aspect,” said Roughnecks Head Coach Michael Nsien. “He is an up-and-coming keeper in the United States. He will push the other goalkeepers and from that we will all benefit.”

TOROS BRING IN SALAZAR: Rio Grande Valley FC announced on Friday the signing of forward Michael Salazar. The Belize international has been added to the active roster and will be available for the club’s home opener on Saturday against Fresno FC (7:30 p.m. CT | Match Center | ESPN+).

Salazar brings Major League Soccer experience with the Montreal Impact to the Toros. He scored five goals and tallied three assists in 34 appearances between 2016-18 with the Impact. Additionally, the forward earned minutes on loan in the USL Championship with the Ottawa Fury FC, where he tallied two goals in eight appearances.

At the national team level, Salazar has made ten appearances for the Belize National Team from 2013-17, which includes the 26-year-old representing his country in 2015 and 2017 Concacaf Gold Cup tournaments.
