TAMPA, Fla. – Tulsa Roughnecks FC midfielder Cristhian Altamirano has claimed the USL Championship Fans’ Choice Goal of the Week for Week 1 of the 2019 season as his superb individual effort against the Portland Timbers 2 last Saturday night at ONEOK Field took top spot in the weekly online poll.
Making his debut for the Roughnecks, Altamirano picked up possession on the right side before using a sharp piece of skill to cut inside past his defender and toward the top of the penalty area. The Honduran international then unleashed a perfectly-placed left-footed finish to the left corner to score Tulsa’s first goal of the 2019 season.
Altamirano’s goal earned 40 percent of the poll conducted online at USLChampionship.com that concluded on Thursday lunchtime. San Antonio FC’s Billy Forbes finished second with 31 percent for his outstanding finish against Phoenix Rising FC last Saturday night, while Phoenix Rising FC’s Jason Johnson finished third on 16 percent for his headed stoppage-time equalizer in the same contest.
