PITTSBURGH – Pittsburgh Riverhounds SC added three new pieces to its roster on Friday, with former New York Red Bulls midfielder Ethan Kutler among those set to link up with Head Coach Bob Lilley’s squad for the 2019 USL Championship season, pending league and federation approval.

Kutler, who was selected with the 39th overall pick in the 2017 MLS SuperDraft by New York, arrives in Pittsburgh having spent the majority of the past two seasons with the New York Red Bulls II. The 23-year-old Cooperstown, N.Y. native made his professional debut for NYRB II against the Hounds in March 2017, playing the full 90 minutes in a 3-3 draw.

Last year, Kutler scored two goals and added an assist in 26 appearances for the Red Bulls II, while also recording two assists in four appearances with the MLS club.

“Ethan is a versatile player who can score goals and provide quality service for our forwards,” said Lilley.

Joining Kutler in signing one-year contracts with the Hounds are defenders Dani Rovira and Uchenna Uzo, who will look to help the Hounds build on a 2018 campaign that saw the club finish third in the Eastern Conference.

Rovira recently finished his collegiate career at the University of Vermont, where he recorded two assists in 33 appearances over two years at the school. The Bogota, Colombia native played the previous two seasons at Dean College, where he was named to the USCAA All-America Second Team as a sophomore.

Uzo brings USL Championship experience to Pittsburgh, having played in 24 games for Phoenix Rising FC over the 2016 and 2017 campaigns. The Houston, Texas native played three seasons collegiately at Coastal Carolina University, earning First Team All-Big South honors during his senior season. Uzo’s brother Tobenna plays for fellow USL Championship side Tulsa Roughnecks FC.

“As the quality of our group has improved during our preseason, Ethan, Dani and Uchenna have demonstrated consistency and the ability to help us moving forward,” said Lilley.
